ÃÛÌÒAPP

The ÃÛÌÒAPP Centre for Bowel  Disease (NCBD) is a collaborative group of physicians, surgeons and researchers interested in furthering  knowledge of the causes, investigation and treatment of bowel disease.

The group undertake and deliver research projects of national importance and portfolio status and evaluate new and emerging technologies on a cross-specialty basis.  Our group is engaged in many international and national trials evaluating medication, surgical procedures, technologies, trial methodology and electronic delivery of medical care.

The priority is to build a research infrastructure within the clinical remit of Gastroenterology and Colorectal surgery. This allows for the strategic delivery of studies of importance to our specialities and to support a rich and growing research and innovation ecosystem.

The department undertake a large portfolio of national NIHR portfolio studies; from prospective studies evaluating patient outcomes to randomised control trails of surgical techniques or medications.

We are proud to be research active and have strong links with in basic science and with industry in the trials of new technologies.
